Millworks Environmental, Sustainability and Corporate Policy
At Millworks we are continually looking for ways to limit our impact on the environment, and always try to use the most environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques and materials possible.

Millworks recognises a responsibility of us all, that is customers, suppliers and staff to base its commercial activities on well managed forest resources. We believe that all our activities and operations have an impact upon the environment and that environmental issues are of critical importance.
Accordingly the company is also committed to achieving environmental best
practice throughout its activity whenever this is practical. In pursuit of
economic growth and a healthy environment it is understood that these are
closely linked and that ecological protection and sustainable development are
the responsibility of all, including business, governments and communities.
Millworks takes responsibility for the development and endorsement of this policy statement and its implementation throughout all operations.
The key personnel have been appointed to carry out the policy, to ensure that key members of staff are trained and that all employees are advised of our position. Millworks maintains a policy of continuous environmental improvement and therefore is a continuing work in progress
Timber Sources
Millworks is committed to buying all hardwood from legal and renewable sources and reputable suppliers, we seek where appropriate evidence that suppliers are in compliance with this policy.
As sources of certified timber become more available the company will give preference to certified timber wherever practical and will not purchase timber where it is known to have originated from dubious sources and will not purchase any timber species prohibited under Appendix 1 of the Convention on International Trading on Endangered Species (CITES).
Recycling and Site Management
The company is committed to reduce consumption of all materials and packaging
wherever possible and is committed to recycling packaging materials where
practicable. This policy commits Millworks to continuous environmental
improvement, to be environmentally friendly, to demonstrate sound environmental
performance, to prevent pollution and take actions that will lead to
environmental sustainability. It applies to all our activities and their affect
on our employees, contractors, suppliers, customers, the general public, and the
world environment.
Millworks Environmental Policy
We will achieve our policy objectives by continually striving to:-
1) Being as efficient as we can in the use of all our raw materials
2) Analyse our impact upon the environment and in particular our efficient and
effective utilisation of:-
- Use of energy
- Use of water
- Use of land
- Labour
- Natural resources
And to minimise the:-
Minimise the production of waste. Recycle or re-use wherever practicable, and dispose of residual waste safely, all factory waste being recycled in house or sent for reprocessing and nearly 100% of packaging, cardboard and office waste being recycled.

Take into account environmental considerations in the design of new products, packing and processes.

Involve and Train our employees to be environmentally aware, environmentally responsible and continuously work towards environmental sustainability.
Encourage all persons and Organisations with which we have contact to become environmentally aware and environmentally responsible.
Communicate and whenever appropriate share our environmental experiences and resulting techniques and Solutions.
Steps taken at Millworks to comply with environmental policy
Step # 1 - Identify the wastes.
Step # 2 - Recycle materials.
Step # 3 - Utilise recycling stations in the area.
Step # 4 - Hold regular training meetings with staff and management.
Step # 5 - Education of clients / users - Millworks working along side our
customers to recycle and reuse. Once your product has gone through its life
cycle, identification of the parts that can be recycled. Working with clients on
utilisation of existing joinery and cabinets and recycling materials that are no
longer of use.
Step # 6 - Millworks are committed to the responsible purchasing of forest
products. Our long-term aim is to source through reputable suppliers, all forest
products that we purchase or specify from well-managed forests that have been
certified to credible certification standards.
Step #7 - Continuous Improvement - The Company seeks to continuously improve the
environmental quality of our products, processes and services. This is
accomplished through a comprehensive, Company-wide environmental programme.
